Aside from its beautiful weather, Los Angeles is well known for its hills that are perfect for hiking and cycling. If you enjoy being near the water there’s plenty of options for that as well. It’s safe to say that Los Angeles has plenty of outdoor activities to choose from no matter your interests. Let’s take a look at some of the best activities offered.

Runyon Canyon Park

When you’re watching a movie and see wide shots of people walking up and down the mountains they’re on the Runyon Canyon trail. In 1984 the park opened up to give the public an opportunity to see the beautiful city views. One of the greatest things about this park is that you get to see the Hollywood sign up close and personal. There are different types of trails based on your experience level. If you have a dog bring them along for your hike as they will be able to meet other pups along the way.

Melrose Trading Post

Make your way to West Hollywood and visit the Melrose Trading Post flea market. Open every Sunday, this market is filled with music performances from local artists and vendors selling items and clothing. This is a great way to buy from small businesses and find unique vintage goods. There are also food vendors set up nearby so you can grab a bite to eat while wandering the market.

Skating in Venice

Venice Beach is home to one of the greatest skateboarding rinks but it’s also the best place to put on your skates and rollerblades and take a stroll. If you don’t have your own pair you can rent them from plenty of vendors on the boardwalk for an affordable price. The two-mile boardwalk is a perfect place to go with some friends and have some fun with a beautiful beach view.

Griffith Park Observatory

Located in Los Feliz, Griffith Park is one of the cities biggest historical landmarks. To get to the top of the hill there is a driving and walking trail so you can pick how active you want to be that day. Aside from the beautiful views at the top, the observatory itself is a very fun attraction. Inside you can learn more about the solar system and admire the beauty of the Greek-inspired building. If you go at night you can get a great view of the stars from telescopes located all around the building.
